Abingdon Preparatory School

A new wing to provide new teaching and music accommodation for this prestigious Oxfordshire school, using a steel and pre-cast concrete structure.

Attune collaborated with the School, the Architect and the MEP Engineer to design high quality accommodation.

Assistance was provided to the team in the design of the building to deliver music accommodation and other teaching areas to the requirements of BB93 and Approved Document Part E.

A full scope of acoustic services was provided which included:

• A noise impact assessment as part of the planning application.
• Reviews of the internal sound insulation with acoustic specification of walls and floors, and assistance provided to the architect in the development of junction details through the steel frame and pre-cast concrete structure.
• Reverberation time control assessments and specification of treatment types and the required areas of treatments.
• Review of internal and external building services noise emissions with assistance provided on developing the noise control specifications.

Attune tested the development at pre-completion, and determined that the project requirements had been met in construction.
