Is your site ready for Acoustic Testing?

We have received your instruction for sound insulation testing (SIT). Prior to arranging our initial site testing visit, we must ensure that the site is ready. This form sets out a list of conditions that must be met for us to carry out testing. Please note that there is a standing charge of £225 excluding VAT
for any visits cancelled with less than 48 hours notice. If any visits are aborted due to adverse site conditions, payment for the visit will be required in full.

What is involved?

Tests are carried out between a pair of rooms separated by a party wall or floor. Testing involves setting up a noise source in the room on one side of a party wall or floor and measuring this noise on the other side of the partition. We therefore require access to both sides of each wall or floor to be tested.

High noise levels of up to 120 dB will be generated using the speaker which will constitute a hazard to hearing for anyone not wearing hearing protection. It is therefore recommended that any staff that might be working in the area to be tested are suitably informed ahead of time, so that they can vacate in good time for us to start.

Required Site Conditions

Quiet conditions will be required, with no work at or near the rooms under test. Staff including sub-contractors shall be informed of the acoustic test programme and be prepared to leave punctually as required. Noisy activity taking place within the site and that is within control of the Site Manager will ideally be stopped for the duration of the testing. Attune shall also be informed of any other noisy activity likely to be occurring on the test day e.g., drilling or sawing. The testing could take several hours, depending on the number of tests involved. Our Operatives will confirm the length of time expected for your project.
